Sally was known for being a prankster with family and friends and passing down those tricks. She then moved to Florida to teach for another five years before moving back to Wisconsin. Sally taught elementary school at Weston for 17 years, where she received the Wisconsin Teacher of the Year award presented to her by Senator Dale Schultz. Sally went on to get her degree in Elementary Education from UW Madison where she was on the Dean’s List. After living in WI and Iowa they settled in Spring Green. Sally was married in April of 1971 to Mark Strozinsky. Following graduation from Superior Senior High School she went to the UW Superior. She was born on Januin Superior, WI the daughter of Richard and Angeline (Celentano) Erickson. Strozinsky age 72 of Spring Green passed away following an extended illness on Saturday, Septemat The Meadows Assisted Living. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Cheryl’s honor to the Humane Society of Douglas County. There will be a private family service and a celebration of life held at a later date. Cheryl’s family would like to thank Essentia Health Staff for their love and care. She left a big impact on so many people, and is going to be deeply missed. Most importantly, Cheryl was extremely devoted to the betterment of her family while being a driving force to make things happen. She was always the most supportive of any activity her children or grandchildren were involved with. She loved shopping, especially at western shops. She enjoyed downhill skiing with her family and supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s ski races. Cheryl was very active doing other activities as well.

She was a member of the Free Spirit Riders Saddle Club, and on the board for the Great Northern Classic Rodeo where she was a past Rodeo Queen and Drill Team member. Paul, where she placed in the top ten out of hundreds of competitors.
Cheryl qualified and competed at the WSCA Champ Show in St. She always had the desire to win and she would. She was an accomplished competitor at open game shows and had numerous achievements. She had a wealth of horse knowledge which included remarkable training abilities. Cheryl was best known as an avid horsewoman. She then became the best stay at home mom and raised three accomplished children who will continue her legacy for years to come. Cheryl worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a clerk until 1981. Cheryl is survived by her husband Richard Balcer, children: Charleen (Troy) Rowekamp, Chad Balcer, Shelley (Stephen) Brown, grandchildren: Courtney and Sydney, and her beloved pets. She graduated from Superior Senior High School and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Cheryl Jean Balcer, 71, of Superior, WI passed away Friday, September 8, 2023.
